Culture Jamming:

We be jamming! We went digging through our archives and found this never released classic N1L with guest Jack Napier and Milton Rand Kalman from the Billboard Liberation Front. They join us -- in disguise, no less! -- to discuss the phenomenon of culture jamming. Professor Miriam Smith from San Francisco State University provides an additional perspective. This is a recycled show from back in the day - but we're pretty sure you'll still love it today!

No One's Occupying Wall Street

We read the newspapers, see the reports on TV, but what aren't we seeing when it comes to Occupy Wallstreet. Well, No One's Listening is an audio show...so you still won't get to see the difference. However, you can close your eyes and pretend you are on a museum audio tour!

Host Irene McGee and produce Winslow Porter head to the Occupy Wallstreet. The show opens with reporter Drew Grant, who has been covering the protest since day one. Later in the show we get a call-in from comedian Jamie Kilstein live. Jamie's the cohost of the popular political podcast Citizen Radio. The show wraps with an interview from Jesse LaGreca a writer for the Daily Kos who gained fame after footage from his un-aired Fox news video interview went viral. The footage, which was caught by a citizen journalist, garnered lots of attention because wherein he "explained" the problem with the news media coverage at the event. The viral video was even mentioned on the Jon Stewart show.

I'd like to dedicate this show to my student loans.

Everyone's Listening To Wikipedia

Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales stops by the N1L studio (ok he calls in...but it still made us feel fancy...and if you click on the link in that sentence you can watch Irene interviewing Jimmy in person). We also were lucky enough to meet the who the NY Times referred to as "The King of Tumblr" Anthony De Rosa. He discusses the growing populartity of his blog http://soupsoup.tumblr.com/. Plus, journalist, Adam Clark Estes calls in to explain how and why Wikipedia is valuable for journalists today. PLUS, special guest Skye the Ladybug calls in! Finally, in fantastic news we - in an effort to keep things as "real" as possible are creating and producing No One's Listening in a studio in Brooklyn. Why? Because we met the ridiculously talented Winslow Porter who is now a proud member of the N1L team!

Ah rejection. A painful reality to life in showbiz. Nothing hurts more, and you never get used to the pain...Or do you? The show starts with Irene and N1L producer Chris Cornell swapping stories about painfully true N1L rejection stories. The inspiration for today's N1L was guest Jon Friedman, the host of a comedy show in NYC called "The Rejection Show." His show is a tribute to comedians and sketches that all got rejected. Legendary drummer Steve Bowman calls in and talks about the highs and lows of being the drummer in The Counting Crows to being the "on-call" drummer for Train. Director Nic Hill calls in to discuss the making of his documentary film Truth in Numbers. Finally, Scott Orn calls in to gives the flip side of the story...what it's like to be the person doing the rejecting.
